I've mentioned in previous blog posts that Christmas is by far one of my most favorite holidays! I absolutely love this time of year and I definitely love decorating during this time of year as well.
For the past couple of years, I've made it a tradition to put up my Christmas tree the weekend after Halloween. Some may say that it's way too early, but I feel that it's right on time, because the holiday season always seems to fly by and I want to make sure that I have as much time as possible to celebrate and be in the Christmas spirit for as long as I possibly can.
This year, we were blessed to have two trees. One in our Foyer and the other in our Family Room. Both trees were decorated differently to fit their perspective locations in our home.
In our Foyer, we decided to go with a 12ft tree to give that wow factor when guests arrived to our home. The ornaments were all gold, green, brown, and burgandy! We finished the tree topped with an angel and a beige and brown burlap skirt, with embroidered snowflakes. We also included predecorated garland on the railings, along with a holiday themed snowman family lining the bottom of our staircase. Finally, we included a 12inch "G" monogrammed ceramic ornament.
In our Family room, we decided to go with a 7.5ft flocked tree. To decorate, we included silver, gold and champagne ornaments along with a shimery, gold trimmed ribbon, topped with a star and we finished it off with a creme and silver embroidered skirt.

~ Tips for the Decorating Process ~
Tip 1: Place your tree in the best locations of your home, near a window, in a corner or if rearranging of furniture is needed, feel free to do so -- just be safe and don't over do it.
Tip 2: Start with a pre-lit tree if you can, this will definitely cut down time on streaming lights to your tree. However, if you must add lights, feel free to do so, but make sure you add the lights first.
Tip 3: If you have an artificial tree, go ahead and place your tree skirt on now, because it will be so much easier prior to doing so once all of your ornaments are on the tree.
Tip 4: If you're going to add any ribbon or garland, I recommend doing this after streaming any lights, as it will be much better to do before placing ornaments every where on your tree, they tend to fall off and you find yourself doing double work.
Tip 5: I'd recommend gathering all of the ornaments you plan to decorate your tree with ahead of time. It possible, try to use "Shatter Proof" ornaments. Things happen and this will also save you time during the cleanup process.
Tip 6: Make sure all of your ornaments are set up with hooks so that you can easily select them as you start the process of placing them sporadically on your tree. Try not to place ornaments close together, especially if they look the same. Also, one little tid bit of advice, if your tree is backed into a corner or near a wall, you don't necessarily need to overload the back of the tree with too much of your decorations -- it won't be seen, so save the majority of those items for the visible portions of the tree if possible.
Tip 7: Save the best parts for last -- add your tree topper and light up your tree. I'd also recommend using an extension cord with the on/off foot switch if you don't have light switches that operate your electrical sockets.
These are just a few tips to offer when it comes to decorating your tree for the holiday season.
